Punjabi American
Heritage Society
The
Punjabi American Heritage Society was established in 1993. The
purpose of this organization is to bring awareness among local American
people, including the American born Punjabis, about the Punjabi culture.
"One of the major goals of the Punjabi
American Heritage Society is to promote friendship and understanding
amongst all people. In an effort to meet/expand this goal, the Punjabi
American Heritage Society, in partnership with the Sutter County
Community Museum, is currently in the process of planning a permanent
exhibit to showcase the story of migration of the Punjabi Americans to
the United States of America over the last century."

Like Small
Towns?
How about: Bogue, Abbot, Sanders, Lomo, Sunset,
Pennington, Tudor, Wilson, Everglade, Hinsdale, South Yuba City, Meridian,
Robbins, Nicholas, East Nicholas, Pleasant Grove, Verona, and Tisdale...all located in Sutter County. Then there are
Yuba City,
Live Oak, and Sutter.
Although
Marysville is located in
Yuba County, Marysville and Yuba City are the "Twin
Cities" of the Mid-Valley, separated only by the Feather River. The Feather, Yuba and
Sacramento River
provide the water supply for the extensive wetlands and efficient agriculture in Sutter
County.
Located in the heart of the
Sacramento Valley, Sutter County is an agriculture center for rice, almonds, walnuts,
prunes, cattle, wheat and row crops. In fact, a few years ago, Sutter County was the
peach capitol of the world, and peaches are still a substantial crop. As well,
Sutter County is home to numerous food processing companies.
From every point in the county, one
can view the
Sutter Buttes mountain range, unique because it is the world's smallest
mountain range and entirely contained within the county.
